been lazy and not blogging (for like a whole year now, but who's counting?). set up a blog here at townhall a week or so ago, not long after the migration, so might as well finally get started with a fun post, and take care of introductions later. Also been a bit lazy in keeping track of even some of my favorite blogs, so I blame any inappositeness on faulty memory and a lack of sleep :)
Hugh has issued the Blogger Middle Earth Challenge, so here's my list (excluding Hugh himself, per his rules, who would have been a candidate for Gandalf, Elrond, or Bilbo), being mostly satisfied with some juggling of spots:
Frodo: Michael Yon? (being stumped, I'll follow sheepdog; seems a pretty good fit)
Sam: Captain Ed (faithful and true)
Merry: Powerline (fought the Nazgul Danrather)
Pippin: Fraters (though they already know it comes in pints)
Aragorn: Mark Steyn (having ranged in the North, he comes home to be
king columnist of the world?)
Legolas: Lileks (prose as sharp and true as an elvish arrow; there's spinoff potential for a "Two J's" sitcom starring Frank J. and J. Lileks; Lileks and Legolas both start with the letter "L")
Gimli: Frank J. (wants to battle-axe the moon, has proof Elrond's unnatural lonevity is due to his daily puppy smoothies, punches liberals in their dumb orc-y faces)
Boromir: Andrew Sullivan (upset he can't have a ring, he goes crazy and turns on the party...can he yet be redeemed?)
Gandalf: Victor Davis Hanson? (again, I am stumped, but since everybody else is doing it, and it seems a good fit...)
Elrond: Instapundit
Arwen: Mary Katharine Ham? Betsy Newmark?
Galadriel: The Anchoress (wisdom and grace; sorry A, but you can't be Arwen because Bryn's not a blogger to be your Aragorn ;))
Bilbo: Roger L. Simon?
Eomer: Darth Misha
Eowyn: Beth at MY Vast Right Wing Conspiracy
Theoden: Prof. Bainbridge? (ditch Wormtongue, Professor!)
Faramir: Lorie Byrd (sorry 'bout the sex change!)
Denethor: PoliPundit
Wormtongue: don't spend time in the fever swamp, so I can't rightly say
Saruman: see above (maybe any Dem that blogs at Kos, though?)
Gollum: Kos (never a better unintentional ally was had than Markos Smeagolitas, who takes the Dems down to the Pit of Doom, over and over again)
